Custom-built for Graham in 1997 by the renowned Valencian luthier Toni Fayos www.afjguitars.com

Graham's main guitar, custom-built in 1997

Features:

  • - Twin cutaway white ash body with tortoiseshell binding
  • - 60s C profile maple neck
  • - Bi-flex truss rod
  • - Indian rosewood fingerboard, compound radius 10" to 16"
  • - Lindy Fralin Stock Telecaster pickups www.lindyfralinpickups.com
  • - Custom wiring with 5-position pickup selector:
     1) neck
     2) neck + bridge in series
     3) neck + bridge
     4) neck + bridge in series/out-of-phase
     5) bridge
  • - Stainless steel jumbo frets
  • - Steel bridge saddles
  • - Sperzel tuners
  • - Compensated nut

The other stage guitar:

  • - 1994 MIM Fender Telecaster Special (open G tuning) - Neck humbucker replaced with single coil Golden Age Telecaster pickup and base plate added to bridge pickup. Same wiring as AFJ Telecaster - strung with Rotosound "Roto Purples" .012/.052

The two acoustic guitars for solo concerts:

  • - 1986 Fender Santa Rosa (open G tuning) - strung with Rotosound "Jumbo King" .012/.054
  • - 1990 Fender Thinline HMT Telecaster Acoustic - strung with Rotosound "Jumbo King" .012/.054

 

Graham's main amplifier
Hand-built in Valencia 2008 by tube amp guru Paco Pascual

The amp is a customized Beteramp Country Master 40w combo, a faithful reproduction of the legendary 1959 Fender 4x10" Bassman 5F6-A.

For Graham's amp:

  • - Selector added for 17w output, single-ended Class-A wiring
  • - Two of the Weber alnico speakers replaced with Weber ceramics
  • - Auto-bias circuit added to power amp stage
  • - Two-speed cooling fan added
  • - Fuse-holder replaced with a 3A resettable circuit-breaker

  • - 1973 Fender Super Reverb (converted to the classic 1963 AB763 wiring), a gift from old schoolmate Bill Sell, guitarist with Californian band The Hoovers
  • - 1994 Fender Tweed Pro Junior
